How to Have a Confident New Year

My hands were sweaty.  My pulse was pounding.  Navigating a sharp turn, I confused the gas pedal for the brake.

This is the unglamorous picture of me learning to drive so many years ago.  Funny thing is, now I can drive without even thinking about what I’m doing.

Sound familiar?

We all go through a similar process with every large task or skill we undertake.  First we crawl, then walk, then run.

And we know this.  Yet we seem so amazed when we read about someone making a million dollars or losing 100 pounds.

Incredible achievements, yes.  Impossible, no.

All big goals start with small steps.  Making your first thousand dollars or losing those first 20 pounds.

With each small success, confidence grows.  Momentum builds. Your self image adjusts, and you begin to dream bigger dreams.  And so you naturally begin to set larger goals to match those dreams.  Then you find yourself committing to and achieving huge goals.  Goals you weren’t able to even imagine in the past.

What small steps can you take today?  Do you have a big dream or goal which seems too large to ever achieve?

Just take the first small step.  Give yourself permission to build slowly. Get a taste of success.  Let that build and drive you to greater successes.

Have a Happy New Year.

Cheers,

A Solution For Oprah

oprah gains weight again

Oprah gains weight again

For a while there, if you Googled “weight loss roadblocks”, this blog was ahead of Oprah.

But today she was number two…and I was 5.

I know why.

Because, once again, she has started gaining weight.  And everyone is watching.

Must be hard on her.  So many watching your eating habits.  I can’t imagine.

I can’t say, specifically, what affects Oprah…but I’d venture a guess that it is actually very difficult for such a busy woman in the spotlight.

At any rate, I wonder what would happen if she read all these posts, and called me for training?

(Warning: Blatant Plug Follows)

Perhaps she would lose up to 12lbs of body fat in her first boot camp like so many women do.  And then keep it off for good.

I know I could help her.  Call me, Oprah.

If you are in Portland and want to avoid all this yo-yo weight fluctuation…run, don’t walk, over to: www.PortlandBootCamp.com
