Should You Eat Halloween Treats?
Today in boot camp all the campers in my 9 am class dressed like me for Halloween. They all had on a “trainer’s uniform”.
My son Jake asked to dress up as Captain Brainstorm. And, yes, that is a plastic bowl on his head.
Long story.
Hilarious!
Somebody in class asked me what Jake would be eating for Trick or Treat and would I be handing out candy.
The answer is: we have devised all manner of sugar-free treats to give out. The stores carry plenty of them.
Does that mean you shouldn’t eat Halloween treats?
Nope. That is just my choice. I gave up sugar 15 years ago and feel great. Can’t break my streak now. And I simply refuse to give it to Jake.
There are better, healthier choices in my opinion.
But if you like the stuff, eating some every now and then won’t do permanent damage. Unless you are already addicted to sugar.
If you are addicted, this message is not for you.
If you are addicted to it, like I used to be, you are probably far better off eating healthier options — and dressing up as “captain brainstorm”…or maybe a “Fitness Trainer”?
Happy Halloween!
Cheers,
D

Too cute- Jake looks adorable! A mini-me of you!Great costume- homemade ones are my favorite. Glow bracelets and playdoh are an awesome alternative “treat” and they are really affordable. I am amazed at your committment to sugar! Jake will be so healthy-like papa!Happy Halloween.

Love the 9:00a class dressed up as mini-Daniels…awesome!
We gave out candy AND playdoh, and almost every kid said, “Cool, playdoh!” when we put it in their bag (and not one “Cool, M&Ms!”). So you can be creative and find alternate choices…but a bit a chocolate every now and then doesn’t hurt. :-)
